BEHIND THE MUSIC

Tim Macrì was first influenced by his father’s unassuming love of all epochs and styles of music. However,  formal studies began with Aram Bedrossian, an Armenian refugee with a vivid, contemplative imagination and a résumé that included the most storied flutists and musicians of the mid-twentieth century! Undergraduate pursuits afforded him the opportunity to absorb the astoundingly elegant sound and style of Randolph Bowman who demonstrated the very pinnacle of what the instrument itself has to offer. Graduate studies were spent under the stern hand of the legendary Lois Schaefer whose task it was to discipline this beast of a “flutist” and mould him into a useful member of musical society. 

The purpose of illustrating my “pedigree” is for the listener to understand (and perhaps find a way to relate to) the choices I make when expressing a musical thought.
